Became a registered U.S. non-profit headquartered in Eugene, Oregon, USA. This move strengthened collaboration and cooperation with North American NGOs, to be closer to donors, and to strengthen its management capability.

Operations continue in Lome, Togo.

1990s

HELP Africa provided technical assistance, capacity building, and program management services for more than 20 NGOs in Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, and Zaire. These NGOs included the American Refugee Committee (ARC), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

 HELP Africa has also worked with many governments, communities, local non-governmental organizations, women’s groups, and youth groups.

2006/7

New Board

Relocation of headquarters to Blacksburg, VA.

Summer 2007 trip by Virginia Tech students to Togo for cultural exchange, training of Togo staff in computers and English

Microfinance programs expanded to include:

· Microenterprise development  and  Training  program

· African Immigrant assimilation and entrepreneurship in the US.

 

Continues to work with many governments, communities, local non-governmental organizations, women’s groups, and youth groups.

New partners include KIVA

as well as  the research programs  and projects in between  US and Universities  and  Institutions and their peers in Africa.

HELP Africa, formally known as ADIS-Afrique, formed to implement sustainable development and relief projects in rural areas of countries in sub-Saharan Africa using appropriate techniques and community participation.

HELP Africa has been subcontracted, done consultancy work, and collaborated with international organizations such as:

· American Refugee Committee (ARC) - Zaire, Somalia/Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda/Sudan

 

· International Rescue Committee (IRC) - Mwanza and Ngara Region in Tanzania

 

· United High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)  - Dadaab Refugee Camps in Kenya; Mugunga in Zaire; Kyaka refugee camp in Uganda.
